The White House says President Donald Trump is going to announce a plan to trim $50 billion in government funding, as well as a $10 billion “bipartisan” proposal to reduce the number of Social Security recipients.

The announcement is expected at 11:30 a.m.

EDT.

Trump says he’s going to use the $50-billion savings to fund his ambitious border wall and to address the opioid crisis, both of which he has vowed to tackle.

The plan, if enacted, would be the largest reduction in the budget in Trump’s first 100 days.

Trump has repeatedly said he would slash the budget and eliminate the programs he has campaigned on, but the White House has not provided details.
